Sheriff's Blotter

Jogging on the shoulder of Highway 101 after dark in close proximity to speeding traffic, a 29-year-old man was detained. When asked where he was headed, the man replied nonchalantly, Salinas Street.

It did not seem to faze the intoxicated man, according to the report, that his destination was more than 10 miles away, nor did it bother him to be jogging on the freeway.
Apparently under the influence of alcohol and an obvious danger to himself, he was arrested for public intoxication.

Bill Would Alter N.H. Wiretap Statute

CONCORD, N.H. -- A man who was arrested after he used his home security system to videotape police at his door last year has inspired a bill to let property owners record audio and video at their homes without notice.

Michael Gannon, 40, of Nashua, N.H., was arrested after his home security camera made video and audio recordings of the detectives, who had come looking for his teenage son. The felony wiretapping charges were later dropped.

Gannon was arrested after he brought the recordings to the police station to complain that a detective was rude to him.

Police later returned Gannon's cameras and recording equipment, but did not give back the tapes, saying they were illegal recordings.

Last week, Rep. Dudley Dumaine, R-Auburn, and five other sponsors introduced House Bill 97, which would add an exception to the state's wiretap law, letting property owners record their own premises, with or without warning.

Your Home Resort must sell its remaining assets

Your Home Resort, the outdoor furnisher that owes customers and creditors more than $3 million after abruptly closing its Sacramento-area showrooms last summer, met its end Tuesday at a federal bankruptcy hearing in U.S. District Court in Sacramento.

Judge Michael S. McManus ordered the Sacramento-based business to convert to Chapter 7 bankruptcy, which means it must sell its remaining assets to pay off creditors.

No auction date was set. Company owner Dennis Duncan was not present at the hearing.
